A common concern for customers considering an automatic in-ground sprinkler system is the potential for damage to an existing lawn. At Toomey Irrigation, we use Ditch Witch technology to minimize disruption and install systems quickly, efficiently, and professionally.
This specialized equipment allows us to pull irrigation pipe underground with minimal disturbance to the surrounding lawn, leaving only a small line in its path. This installation method helps protect the existing landscape while allowing us to provide a professionally installed irrigation system with as little disruption as possible.
Each sprinkler head requires a hole to be dug to hook up equipment to water source. Special care is paid while digging, separating existing grass and underlying dirt to ensure efficient installation and more importantly, minimal damage.
After the pipe has been pulled underground, each sprinkler head location is individually dug, with special care taken to cut and remove sections of grass so they can be placed back exactly as they were. Once the head locations are prepared, installation is completed quickly so the areas can be backfilled as soon as possible, minimizing the impact of the hot summer sun on the existing grass.
Upon completion, we tamp down any disturbed areas and overseed as needed. With our careful installation process, the lawn typically recovers quickly, and within 2–4 weeks, you can't even tell we were there!
